Comfrey root, cut

Symphytum officinale

Comfrey is mainly used externally for injuries such as bruises, strains, sprains, purulent wounds, weeping eczema and skin abrasions and broken bones, usually in the form of compresses or poultices.
The active ingredient allantoin promotes wound healing and tissue regeneration.

Comfrey is said to have astringent, anti-inflammatory, decongestant and thus analgesic properties.

It is used internally in folk medicine for bronchitis, lung complaints, diarrhoea and stomach ulcers.

The intestinal motor function can be regulated, cramps are relieved.
Diarrhoea can often be significantly improved with comfrey.
The content of mucilage soothes dry irritating cough as well.

Dosage:

  • externally 50g with 1l water boil up
  • internally at approx. 500kg live weight 30-50g best after infusion with water

Caution!
Please pay attention to all applications, internal as well as external: Comfrey must neither be overdosed nor used for a longer period of time (maximum 4 weeks per year).
