Laminitis, medically known as laminitis, is a particularly painful and complex disease of the hoof that causes inflammation and edema to form in the hoof. The leaking fluid damages the zipper-like interlocking corium and epidermis between the coffin bone and the horn wall. As the flexor tendon at the back of the coffin bone exerts traction, the coffin bone can change its inclination and in extreme cases even be pulled through the sole of the hoof. A horse suffering from laminitis attempts to reduce pain by shifting weight to the hindquarters. This results in the reclined stance that is so typical of laminitis. Laminitis is caused by, among other things, nutritional imbalance, post foal placental problems and Equine Cushing Syndrome (ecs, ppid). Laminitis can also occur when a horse overloads a single leg, such as an injury to one of the other legs.

If your horse or pony suffers from laminitis, you can give it naf Laminaze. The supplement consists of a combination of antioxidants, sulphur and nutrients that support the hoof. In addition, Laminaze also contributes to the intestinal health of your horse or pony. The supplement can be given as part of a high fibre, low energy diet.

Dosage

Initial dose (7 - 10 days): 50 - 75 g daily, equivalent to 2 to 3 scoops per day

Maintenance dose: 25 - 50 g daily, equivalent to 1 to 2 scoops per day
